When astronauts look down at Earth from space, they experience the Overview Effect — a sudden cognitive shift in which the lines on a map and geopolitical rivalries fall away, and what remains is a fragile, borderless blue marble. We are all, fundamentally, Terrestrials United.
A cosmic perspective calls for an equally cosmic ambition. The 2026 UNA-USA Leadership Summit in Houston — Space City — is the launchpad for the leadership, skills, and resources behind a collective moonshot: a resilient, unbreakable bond between the United States and the United Nations. Strong US leadership helps protect human rights everywhere and unlocks the full power of the UN to support the work being done in communities across America.

- UNA-USA National Council meeting (daytime, invite only). UNA-Houston Gala at the Hilton Post Oak in the evening.
- Saturday, November 14 · 8AM–6:30PM
- Houston City College, Alief Hayes Campus. High-impact plenaries plus breakout sessions in three tracks: Chapter Leader, Citizen Diplomat, and Understanding the UN.
- Sunday, November 15 · 9AM–1PM
- UNA-USA Awards Ceremony and plenaries at Space Center Houston (tentative), with an optional exploration of the center afterward.
In partnership with OHCHR
The Summit's theme and setting in Space City converge with the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and its "Terrestrials United" global campaign. Recognizing that human rights are universal and borderless, the campaign uses the cosmic perspective of our shared planet to spark local action against hate speech, discrimination, and division — bridging international human-rights standards and the advocacy happening in American communities.
